MIDDI - A Gentler Approach
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much. One thing we’ve all learned to prioritize in the past few years is being more gentle in how we treat ourselves, others and our environment. We’ve recognized the value in taking it easy if possible and going for a softer, gentler approach when it’s needed. We’ve leaned into comfort and kindness, and that’s a beautiful thing. This week’s three featured buys all embody that approach: one is gentle on your skin, another on your body and the third on the planet. Using them helps take the edge out of some parts of your routine to help you feel better each and every time. Easy does it. 1. HoliFrog Tashmoo Water Lily Milky Wash ($15 to $48) We all overdo it sometimes with our skin. We go for strong scrubs or treatments or neglect properly protecting our skin from the elements. When your skin needs a deep cleanse that won’t further compromise your protective barrier, this cream cleanser from HoliFrog can help. Rich in amino acids, this cleanser is made with sunflower oil and a blend of water lily, lotus root and spirulina extracts to gently break down makeup, sunscreen and impurities. I love how easily it washes away and how soft it leaves my skin. Shop small, medium or large and find it here outside the US. 2. Tommy John Second Skin Triangle Bralette ($58) My days of coping with an uncomfortable bra are long over (see here and here), but that doesn’t mean I want to completely forgo support. This bralette from Tommy John defied my expectations on both counts. With a hidden sling and removable pads, it smooths, shapes and lifts without bulk or digging into my shoulders and it disappears under my clothing. Made from nylon and spandex, it’s the perfect bra for long travel days and can even be thrown in the dryer. I wish they offered more colors, but they do have a lovely lace option. I have been trying to cut down on the amount of single-use plastics in our home for a while now. One area where I hadn’t been as successful was our oral care. Then I started getting these great bamboo toothbrushes from The Humble Co. in onboard amenity kits while flying or in hotels, and checked out what else they had. Founded in 2013, this dentist-developed Swedish brand offers eco-friendly alternatives for every step in your routine, including floss picks (the only way I can get us to floss at all), electric toothbrush heads and much more.
