Hi there!

Even though February is hanging around a little longer this year, with its peculiar 29th day, the month is almost over and so is my yearly Friends drive. (This is my final email about it. Yay!)

I’m incredible grateful for the 128 new Friends that signed up since the start of Feb! Thank you and welcome! That means we’re just 22 Friends short of my goal:

Reach 150 new Friends in February! 128 of 150 goal

Sharing personal moments with Friends

Roughly every two to three months I send an email with some personal updates to Friends of DD. Inspired by my friend Harry, about a year ago or so, I started adding a handful of photos from my personal life to each update: of our building’s gardening day, a weekend of hiking at a local national park, or a neighbour’s dog that I borrowed for a walk.

Rather surprisingly, those photos have become the most appreciated and commented-on part of my Friends updates. Sharing personal moments with a more intimate sub-group of readers feels special. It reminds me of the days of Flickr and personal blogs.

At first, I was hesitant to share shots of my private life with ‘internet strangers’, but I realised that a modest paywall serves as a great screening process. Those who have made a generous commitment to supporting my work deserve to get a bit more of me. 😉
