Really Good Emails - To GIF or not to GIF?
Not only can we not settle the whole pronunciation thing about "GIF," but there's a new debate about the animated image: to include it or not. According to a recent study by the Nielsen Norman Group, emails without GIFs were described in more positive terms by recipients than emails with them. But the real reason why is that most of the time a GIF is used as a distraction or a way to put "lipstick on a pig." When used thoughtfully (i.e. to expound or to highlight) and sparsely, GIFs can be a powerful tool. The trick is finding the part between art and science.
