Flow State - Sonja Tofik
Flow State recommends instrumental music every weekday, highlighting an artist who inspires music appreciation in this age of algorithms. If you enjoy Flow State, consider becoming a paid member – that unlocks our weekly Tuesday mixes and private Spotify playlists. Good morning. Today we’re listening to Sonja Tofik, a Swedish sound artist and producer. From Stockholm, Tofik got into electronic music as a teenager and began creating it herself at 19 when she purchased a Roland Alpha Juno 1.¹ In 2018 she released Vilar i dina spår, a collaboration with fellow Stockholmer and producer Marlena Lampinen. Vilar alternates between soothing ambient works and foreboding synthworks, with field recordings overlaying all of the above. Tofik’s latest album, Respire, came out a couple weeks ago. It explores the emergent harmonics of acoustic feedback, her current object of study at Royal College of Music in Stockholm.² Vilar i dina spår - Sonja Tofik & Mar-Ilena (30m, no vocals) Respire - Sonja Tofik (40m, no vocals) We wish you a great start to your week. 2 The artist’s website |
