“Antifragile AI Ideas” have a secret ingredient…and I built a process to find and refine it

As someone that’s spent the last 20 years developing software that powers sites for Facebook and Intel, I’ve had to answer these kinds of questions on every client project:

• How do I come up with new ideas to solve problems my clients have?
• How do I prioritize features that are "need to have" versus "nice to have"?
• How do I launch on time for client deadlines without going over budget?

As I reflected on how I did this again and again for clients, I began to see the “meta-pattern” of problem-solving. That led me to using the same process to launch our own software products.

Finally, when AI started to take the world by storm, I adapted the process.

Instead of coming up with ideas for software development, I used it to come up with ideas for AI process and product development.

That’s when I had the lightbulb moment 💡.

Anyone can come up with an idea to solve problems or create opportunities with software or AI.

To make them an idea unique though, especially with AI, required something more.

The best ideas required:

Antifragility.

Antifragility is a concept coined by Nassim Taleb, author of the book “Antifragile”. The book is MORE than worth a read but essentially it describes the property of a system that causes it to become stronger in response to stress and volatility (instead of weaker).

Which, in the fast-changing volatile world of AI, is exactly what you need.

That sparks a logical question though:

What would make AI Ideas Antifragile?

Well, after 20 years of bubble, bubble, toil, and problem-solving my clients’ trouble, I realized two conditions needed to be met:

1) Uniqueness without AI: The uniqueness of your AI idea can’t rely on whatever AI model, platform, or tool you use - because that’s the most “volatile” part of AI.

2) AI Future Proofing: Newer AI models, platforms, and tools that get released later must improve your initial idea, not weaken it.

That’s what we’d need.

But then, I asked the fun question…

What would I actually want :)

Answering that question, is what inspired me to add a third puzzle piece…

3) Predictable Production: A system to reliably produce AI ideas that meet the first two conditions.

THAT, my friend, is how I eventually came up with what I call:
