Round 1: 'Chambeau Goes Low |

Bryson DeChambeau (-7) & Scottie Scheffler (-6) Lead the Field in Weather-Shortened Round 1 at Augusta
Storms delayed the start of Thursday's Round 1 at The Masters, but a number of players finished their opening rounds after the weather broke. Among them was big-hitter and LIV defector Bryson DeChambeau, who infamously called Augusta a “Par 67” a few years ago. DeChambeau insisted he could turn every Par 5 into a Par 4 with his gigantic swings. He’s not wrong. The guy carded a Round 1 65 (-7) with just one bogey, and he did it using a set of 3-D printed irons that were approved just three days ago. That ‘Chambeau is one of one. Meanwhile, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (-6) also went low, but that’s no surprise. It's bonus golf today with the rest of Round 1 and 2 in succession.
Tiger Tracker: Woods (-1) only made it through 13 holes before darkness fell, but he birdied Hole 1 and remained even through a dozen more. The projected cut line is approximately +2 (top-50 and ties), so Tiger (T-17th) is in good shape at the moment. Round 1 Leaderboard (Incomplete) 1. B. DeChambeau (-7) | F 2. S. Scheffler (-6) | F 3. N. Hojgaard (-5) | Hole 15 T4. D. Willett (-4) | F T4. M. Homa (-4) | Hole 13
T6. R. Fox (-3) | F T6. C. Davis (-3) | F T6. T. Hatton (-3) | Hole 14
Other Notable Scorecards: C. Conners (-2), J. Niemann (-2), W. Zalatoris (-2), P. Reed (-2), T. Fleetwood (-2), T. Finau (-1), P. Cantlay (-1), R. McIlroy (-1), V. Hovland (-1), T. Woods (-1), C. Smith (-1), J. Thomas (E), X. Schauffele (E), B. Koepka (E), P. Mickelson (+1), J. Rahm (+1), D. Johnson (+1) | Full Leaderboard

The Dichotomy of O.J. Simpson |

O.J. Simpson, With Controversy That Polarized America, Dies of Cancer at 76
Decorated football superstar and famous Hollywood actor O.J. Simpson died of cancer yesterday at the age of 76. You’ve likely heard that news by now, which makes this story a bit of a challenge. What can we write about O.J. Simpson that you don’t already know? The Hall of Famer, five-time Pro Bowler, four-time NFL rushing champ and Heisman Trophy winner was a larger-than-life celebrity on the field for more than a decade in the 1960s and 70s. He was also the first NFL running back to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season. He then transitioned to Hollywood where he appeared in more than a dozen movies and TV shows, further elevating his star.
In 1994, the world stopped for hours to watch the famous slow-speed car chase of the white Ford Bronco. That, of course, was the result of Simpson running from police after he was suspected of murdering his ex-wife and her male friend. The courtroom drama that followed is beyond well-documented. He was later acquitted.
Sports personalities rallied to tell tales of Simpson on Thursday, often choosing to focus on the first part of his life — the football player — while still recognizing the latter chapters of the story. The dichotomy between a lovable star athlete and the infamous murder mystery was evident throughout every testimony. A sports legend and a judicial whirlwind wrapped in one... O.J. Simpson, gone at 76. Read More

#1 Boston College & #3 Denver to Meet in Saturday’s Frozen Four Finale
Four college hockey teams entered Thursday for the Men’s NCAA Frozen Four, and there was an off chance that Bostonians could see an all-Beanpot final (two Boston teams) this weekend. No dice. While Boston College made light work of Michigan (4-0), Denver ousted Boston U. with a thrilling overtime victory (2-1, OT) on Tristan Broz's bench-clearing winner. Look at that scene (above). That sets up a BC-Denver finale in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Saturday. The Eagles and Pioneers both have a storied hockey history. Boston College has five national titles (last: 2012), but Denver is tied for the most by any program with nine (last: 2022). Could this be No. 10 that puts the Pios alone at the top?
