At 86 years old, Jane Fonda has found a third act as a climate activist. Just last week, she raised $10 million in a single night to fight against Big Oil’s plans to overturn a bill that protects people in what oil companies call “sacrifice zones” from toxic oil drilling.

That same week, she was on the cover of TIME Magazine as a recipient of a TIME Earth Award, putting out a rallying cry for “the great unasked” — people who’ve never participated in climate action because, well, they’ve never been asked before.

“I guess one of the reasons I’m so involved is, I’m 86 years old. I have a feeling that people can say, ‘Look at what she’s doing at her age! If she can do it, I can do it,’” she told TIME.
