If you use the same pair of scissors to snip through everything: gift wrap, cardboard boxes, chicken bones, and—for the particularly bold—bangs, well, we can’t stop you. But may we gently suggest a better way? Invest in a few great pairs of scissors, ones that are designed specifically for certain tasks. For example, to open plastic packaging, a standard pair of sharp scissors will do the trick. But for cooking, you’ll need something with more leverage to cut through slippery, thick foods.
