Design Month Kicks Off

May in New York is a magical time—and it isn’t just because our sad, black puffer coats have finally (finally) gone back into hibernation. It’s also when design and art exhibitions, parties, and open houses are at their absolute peak. Of course, we at AD PRO want to help you make the most of this month’s festivities; to that end, we’ve compiled helpful guides to TEFAF (opening tomorrow) and NYCxDESIGN (officially kicking off next week).

If you’ll be exploring the vast halls of ICFF this year, be sure to stop by Bespoke: The Art of Making, a new fair section dedicated to craftsmanship and presented in partnership with AD PRO. There, Directory member Morris Adjmi Architects has dreamed up a stylish salon where our editors will be popping up over the course of the fair.

And reader, if you’re on the West Coast, fear not—we have a little something for you, too. On Sunday, May 19, from 4 to 5 p.m. PT, editor Mayer Rus will be having a conversation with Emmy Award–winning screenwriter, producer, and director Ryan Murphy at Design Miami LA about conjuring provocative cinematic worlds for his film and television productions, designing homes with a singular point of view, and his wide-ranging adventures in collecting art and design.
