⭐️ Spotify shifts into reverse and starts offering refunds for Car Thing

The firm is now offering refunds to Car Thing owners provided they can show proof of purchase – although at the time of writing, Spotify doesn't appear to have put that in writing. However, some users are posting online to say that they've been offered several free months of Spotify Premium after contacting customer services.

⭐️ Spotify hikes subscription price in France by 1.2% to match new music-streaming tax

At €11.12 per month for an individual subscription plan, the new price is 1.2% higher than the previous amount — the same as the 1.2% levy that France imposed on music-streaming companies including Deezer, Apple, Google and Spotify starting from January 1 this year. The 1.2% increase applies to all of Spotify’s subscription plans, including student, family and duo.

⭐️ I attended the Billie Eilish X Spotify listening experience, and I’ll never be able to listen to music the same way again

In the heart of King’s Cross in London, the immersive showspace Lightroom played host to an exclusive Billie Eilish X Spotify event to promote her third album Hit Me Hard and Soft. The album was played from front to back, with no interruptions – just how every album should be listened to in my opinion.

But for the first time, I got to listen to an album in full-length with 28 Panasonic laser projectors providing the visuals, and audio pumped  through the Holoplot X1 sound system –- the same one that’s used at the Las Vegas Sphere, a vast high-tech concert and multimedia venue.

⭐️ Budweiser is turning Spotify into beer ads

More than 500 songs on Spotify namecheck Budweiser in their lyrics. With a new campaign in Brazil, the King of Beers is turning these tunes into actual ads on the streaming platform.

⭐️ Spotify wants to make podcasts a marketing driver for music

Despite being the most transparent DSP on the market (at least in terms of publicising music data), Spotify does not make aggregate consumption data readily available to the public. So, when Spotify is willingly providing this type of data to a news outlet, there is likely a strategic reason for doing so.
