5-Bullet Friday — The Magic of Being Unreasonable, Improving Sleep and HRV, Game-Changing Drone Technology, and More
|
|||
Hi All! Here is your weekly dose of 5-Bullet Friday, a list of what I’m pondering and exploring. Feel free to forward along if the spirit moves you. I threw in an extra bullet for those eager to practice Russian tie snaps. This edition is brought to you by Momentous, my go-to source for creatine and whey protein. Be sure to see their offer in the P.S. Articles I’m reading“Air Traffic Control for Drones” by Rich Shea. What I’m listening to during workouts“Black Out The Sun” (YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music) by Sevendust (@Sevendust). Book I’m readingUnreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More Than They Expect by Will Guidara (@wguidara). This was recommended to me by a past podcast guest and dear friend. His text read: “I don’t exactly know why, but I cannot stop thinking about this book.” Two of my favorite stories from the book are related to the “95/5 rule” and “dreamweavers,” but there’s a lot more to nibble on and learn from. Here’s the official book description: How did Guidara pull off this unprecedented transformation? Radical reinvention, a true partnership between the kitchen and the dining room—and memorable, over-the-top, bespoke hospitality. Guidara’s team surprised a family who had never seen snow with a magical sledding trip to Central Park after their dinner; they filled a private dining room with sand, complete with mai-tais and beach chairs, to console a couple with a cancelled vacation. And his hospitality extended beyond those dining at the restaurant to his own team, who learned to deliver praise and criticism with intention; why the answer to some of the most pernicious business dilemmas is to give more—not less; and the magic that can happen when a busser starts thinking like an owner. Today, every business can choose to be a hospitality business—and we can all transform ordinary transactions into extraordinary experiences. Featuring sparkling stories of his journey through restaurants, with the industry’s most famous players like Daniel Boulud and Danny Meyer, Guidara urges us all to find the magic in what we do—for ourselves, the people we work with, and the people we serve. What I’d love your take on“Tim Ferriss Evening Routine Improved Deep Sleep by 30% and HRV by 10% After 7 Days!” This randomly popped up for me and caught my attention. I strongly agree with the comment highlighting dinner at least 3–4 hours before bed. What have you all found to most reliably increase HRV and/or deep sleep? Please let me know at @tferriss on Twitter. Poetry in motion that I’ve watched at least 20xQuote I’m pondering“Most people live, whether physically, intellectually or morally, in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use of a very small portion of their possible consciousness, and of their soul’s resources in general, much like a man who, out of his whole bodily organism, should get into a habit of using and moving only his little finger. Great emergencies and crises show us how much greater our vital resources are than we had supposed.” You can complement this edition of 5-Bullet Friday with the latest supercombo episode, featuring Jocko Willink and Sebastian Junger; my interview with futurist Jane McGonigal; and this short video of my evening routine, featured in the Reddit post above. P.S. Deal of the Week — Momentous high-quality supplements!Momentous offers high-quality supplements and products across a broad spectrum of categories, and I’ve been testing their products for months while training and traveling. Lately, I have been pairing workouts with both their creatine and grass-fed whey protein. Not all creatine is created equal. In fact, a recent 2022 study compared 175 creatine supplements and demonstrated that ~88% contained creatine varieties with limited evidence of either effectiveness or safety. Furthermore, only 8% were third-party certified. I have full confidence in Momentous creatine because (1) Momentous uses Creapure® creatine, which has the strictest lab standards to ensure it’s at least 99.9% pure, and (2) it’s third-party (NSF and Informed Sport) certified. That’s quality you can trust. Click here to get 20% off all Momentous products, including my personal favorites. And not to worry, my non-US friends, Momentous ships internationally and has you covered. |
