This morning, I woke up to a text from an old friend.

"Dude, you're on the front page of Reddit!"

I was excited, but then I saw why...

I was on trending on Reddit for all the wrong reasons.

So here's what happened:

Some asshole took a screenshot of my tweet, then reposted it to Reddit along with some clever words.

Millions of people have seen it and thousands of people have commented on it...

(I'm not going to link to it here, but you can find it on my Twitter feed if you really want...)

Ok clever anonymous reddit guy, you win.

Here - have some more upvotes and karma.

But guess what...

This ain't the first time something like this happened to me!

A few months ago, I tweeted a screenshot of me working from a plane and some anonymous account tried to cancel me...

That tweet ended up getting reposted all over the internet.

And when it did, it actually scared the sh*t out of me.

Thousands of people piled on and called me a horrible person.

But then... something crazy happened.

I went to bed, woke up the next day, and it was like nothing had happened.

Not even 24 hours later, it was all over.

The rage, the anger, all of it had washed away like a wave into the sand.

The mob had all moved on the next thing, and they forgot all about me.

The internet is funny like that.

One day, you're the worst thing since Osama Bin Laden, and the next day it's like you never existed.

^^ this, I think, is actually amazing.

There's a great lesson to be learned here.

Stop giving a sh*t about what people think about you.

Especially random people online.

Because... they're not actually thinking about you.

They're only thinking about themselves.

I think this goes for everything in life.

Once you realize this, putting yourself out there becomes a lot less scary.

You stop worrying about what other people think about you.

And you finally start:

making progress on that idea

building that product

and following your dreams

So... next time you find yourself hesitating:

Just remember... that today... 1000s of people think I'm the worst thing on planet earth.

But tomorrow, they won't even remember me.

I hope this motivates you to make progress today and do something a bit scary.
