Suddenly Unstuffy Silver

There’s been a trend brewing at some of the design and fashion world’s cooler-than-cool soirees, and for many of us, it’s a blast from the past: tabletop silver. (I’m tempted to say “this isn’t your grandma’s silver,” but actually, it is—just given a makeover by a new generation of tastemakers.)

Sometimes it’s fantastical, like the Buccellati lobster. Other times, it’s more modest—at least as much as silver can be—like the handsome pitcher that foregrounds a shot of Adam Lippes’s kitchen from our print issue.

Count this among the old-school decor staples we’ve seen make a roaring comeback, like plates on walls, allover pattern, and ruched rooms.
