Poem-a-Day - What does Poem-a-Day mean to you?

Dear Friend,

“A morning meditation,” “a solace,” “a ritual”—we hear from so many of you how important being part of the Poem-a-Day community is to you.

Today, I’d like to share what Poem-a-Day means for one of the poets selected to contribute poetry to this space.

Geoffrey Philp, whose poem “Haiku” was featured earlier in June, thanked the Academy staff for including his work.

The Academy was founded ninety years ago to do just this. By featuring poets writing today, Poem-a-Day fosters a readership who is engaging with contemporary American poetry.

But we cannot produce Poem-a-Day without your financial assistance. From the skilled staff who work with our Guest Editors and poets, to the technology that serves poetry to your inbox 365 days a year, it takes our amazing community of readers to maintain this vital poetry program.

Please consider a donation as we close out our fiscal year this June 30.

Your gift helps keep Poem-a-Day open to all who want to be a part of our poetry community and supports this important platform for the extraordinarily talented poets writing today.

Thank you for being part of Poem-a-Day.

Warmly,

Ricardo Maldonado
President and Executive Director
Academy of American Poets

P.S. As we come to the close of our financial year, Poem-a-Day needs your support. Donors making a gift of $50 and above will receive a blank notebook featuring a quote from former Academy Chancellor Alberto Ríos as a thank you.
