The
Emergency Money for the People Act, a bill to provide $2,000 monthly payments to individuals 16 and older and making less than $130,000 annually is gaining steam with new congressional supporters. Over 30 million have sought unemployment aid in the last six weeks.

When news broke over the weekend that
“murder hornets” have been spotted in the U.S. for the first time, it caused quite a buzz. Before you start equating the threat with the COVID-19 coronavirus, don’t. They’re not even comparable.

Today's Must-Read

After the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic on March 11, stock markets collapsed around the globe and the Dow recorded its worst sell-off since 1987. While markets have rebounded somewhat, one group of companies never got hit and have instead steadily risen: publicly traded healthcare outfits working on vaccines, treatments and testing kits.

Shares of these companies, which are striving to defeat the virus, have seen a remarkable surge in the past seven weeks—creating at least
one new billionaire and boosting the fortunes of at least nine more in the three-comma-club.

The most notable winner is new billionaire Stéphane Bancel, the CEO of Cambridge, MA-based Moderna, which was the first company to begin human trials of a COVID-19 vaccine on March 16 in Seattle. “When I saw that Bancel had become a billionaire on April 2,
I started wondering if other healthcare billionaires were also gaining in the stock market,” says Wealth Reporter Giacomo Tognini.

All told, even after markets dropped again last Friday, these 10 healthcare billionaires have gotten $7 billion richer since the WHO declared a pandemic. Says Tognini, “That sets them apart from their fellow billionaires and from most investors.”
