Well, folks, happy August eve. Before you spiral about how quickly another month has come and gone, let’s review what happened in July, shall we?

This month, you all looked into a few little life upgrades for yourselves, including our top-pick bug repellent, excellent white T-shirts, and a chic reading light. And a fair number of you seem to be preparing to jet off on a trip before summer is over—contemplating new packing cubes, carry-on luggage, noise-cancelling headphones, and our top-pick power adapter. To those lucky readers: Bon voyage.

Here’s what your newsletter editors added to their carts this month:

  • Haley bought that bag hook y’all loved during Prime Day, and she loves it too. Having a little doohickey that ensures her purse never has to touch the floor ever again has been a small but meaningful life upgrade.
  • Brittney bought our cheap (on-sale!) laptop stand pick because she’s tired of “hunching like a little gremlin” for meetings when she’s not at her elaborate work-from-home setup. She likes that it folds up into a teeny bar (with a handy carrying case!) to toss in her bag.
  • Sofia ducked into a wine bar this month during a sudden summer rainstorm, which was as impulsive and romantic as it sounds. So much so, in fact, that she left her prized Repel umbrella there. So she ordered a new one. A fun purchase? Not really. A necessary one? Ugh, yes.

Plus: What do you want to know about the appliances we recommend? Rachel Wharton and Andrea Barnes—who test washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, cooktops, refrigerators, microwaves, and more—are taking your questions on Reddit in an AMA event tomorrow. Ask us anything.
