Last night, AIPAC defeated another one of the few Democrats in Congress with the courage to criticize Israel’s war on Gaza. The pro-Israel lobby group spent an unprecedented $8 million on deceptive ads against Missouri Rep. Cori Bush, whose supporters were outspent 4-to-1 by outside groups. Polls show that Democratic voters don’t agree with AIPAC’s extreme pro-Netanyahu agenda, so the lobby group flooded Bush’s district with ads on unrelated issues under the banner of their confusingly named “United Democracy Project” super PAC. Israel depends on lockstep congressional support to continue slaughtering Palestinians, a status quo that most media outlets ignore. That’s why it’s so important to blow the whistle on AIPAC’s deceptive and deep-pocketed strategy to silence dissenters like Bush — and why The Intercept needs your support to continue investigating.
