The Recommendation

The new AirPods are an improvement. But we’re still on the fence.

Our audio experts have spent the past few days testing Apple’s newest AirPods before they hit stores later this week. Compared with previous generations, these redesigned wireless earbuds have a sleeker, more ergonomic design, better sound quality, and a powerful chip that lets you answer or reject calls with a head shake.

But do these improvements make them worth the upgrade (and the hefty price tag)? We historically haven’t been big AirPods fans, because while they’re convenient for people who exclusively use Apple devices, there are better options for the money. And after giving the new AirPods a try, our minds likely will not change.
