Today we’re listening to Floating Points, an English electronic musician who got a PhD in neuroscience but put that career on hold to pursue music. He was one of the first artists we recommended back in early 2019. His 2021 record with Pharoah Sanders, Promises, was an acclaimed, mysterious orchestral jazz opus. His new album, Cascade, his first LP since Promises, is a very different album. It’s a return to the club, where FloPo is known to play marathon sets, including a recent five-hour Boiler Room set in New York.
