EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Sunday. Just when I thought nothing online could surprise me anymore, I came across Timothée Chalamet looking virtually unrecognizable on the set of his new movie. (Between the sweater vest and the glasses, there’s a lot to digest.) As for other things that made me do a double-take this week: Limited Too announced they’re launching “millennial sizing” (I need all of these ASAP), Lindsay Lohan stunned in a chic, Matrix-style leather trench (she simply can’t miss), and people started drinking white wine…martinis (respectfully, no). And because the internet keeps on giving, I invite you to check out Ben Affleck’s “divorce beard” and watch Dua Lipa slurp down a homemade, uh, pickle juice and Diet Coke concoction. Okay, I need to stop scrolling and touch some grass...

Deeply important information

🐭 Thanks to Taylor Swift, “mousy blonde” is supposedly autumn’s hottest hair color. Squeaky chic, we guess?

👀 Gird your loins: This fall’s runway trends feature “freaky tutus,” “extreme padding,” and those iconic Blair Waldorf-coded red tights. Fashion Week, you know how to keep us on our toes.

💍 From day-after brunch to plus-ones, here’s what wedding planners secretly wish couples would stop doing.

⚰️ Looking to switch up your makeup look? Consider going “soft goth.” But don’t bother with black mascara since it’s apparently dead.

👑 Break out the M&M’s because The Princess Diaries 3 production has an exciting new development. Two words: Shut up.

I can't look away.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande

The devil works hard, but Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo work harder. At least, to promote Wicked. Although it (somehow still) doesn’t hit theaters until November 22, the duo — whose lengthy, method-dressing-infused press tour has included “Oz-inspired red carpet looks,” a Met Gala performance, lookalike Mattel dolls, and an extremely on-brand visit to the Olympics — remains deeply committed to the bit. Their latest stop on the yellow brick road? Vanity Fair, where the stars did a photoshoot in haute couture. The adorable real-life friends also took the magazine’s infamous lie detector test during a banter-filled Q&A that’s racked up over 1.7 million views. And unlike most scripted celeb conversations, we learned…a lot. Notably: Grande admitted she doesn’t always like her fans (“sometimes they can hurt my feelings”), addressed plastic surgery rumors (please take a moment to appreciate her BBL commentary), and went viral for her moon-landing take. (She does have a song called “NASA,” after all.)

That would’ve satisfied us enough. But Grande didn’t stop there. In her interview with VF, she defended criticism over her voice “change” (specifically, accusations of developing a fake accent à la Hilaria Baldwin) and the double-standards successful female artists face. But perhaps most surprisingly, the singer opened up for the first time about her relationship with Mr. SpongeBob (aka, her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater) and the backlash they’ve received. Despite the rumors of her now-boyfriend cheating and leaving his family for her (see: this extensive timeline for a refresher of the drama), Grande made a point to stick up for her man, saying: “There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bullsh*t tabloid can rewrite in real life.” Will Slater and Grande make their red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere? Who knows, but then again, there’s always the Wicked: Part Two press tour in 2025, which — *checks calendar* — should be starting any day now.

Crumbl cookies

Just when you’d recovered from the Bridgerton Ball” disaster, a new viral scam has topped it — this time, a chaotic Crumbl cookie mess. (2024 has been weird, okay?) The internet-famous treats — which earned a cult following for being giant, dough-y, and smothered in frosting — can sell up to $4.99 a pop in North America. However, a “Crumbl cookie event” in Sydney, Australia offered eager Aussies a chance to sample them — for $17.50 AUD per cookie (that’s about $12 USD). Not only did unhappy customers wait in long lines — which they documented on TikTok — to sample the ludicrously expensive baked goods, but once they nabbed them, they were…stale. Turns out, the sellers had originally purchased them in the States and then presumably made a 10-plus-hour transcontinental flight (how the cookies survived the journey remains a mystery) for the purpose of reselling them. And — in another predictable plot twist —- the pop-up wasn’t actually affiliated with Crumbl (a detail the event organizers say they had been transparent about). And that’s the way the cookie crumbles (sorry).

Shout out to Nicole Kidman’s glass of milk in the Babygirl trailer, which has set the internet aflame. And so has her co-star Harris Dickinson. Suddenly, we’re very thirsty.

Need something to watch
Saoirse Ronan in "The Outrun"

Free-spirited Rona, a 20-something biology student, hits rock bottom after partying through London, landing her in a 90-day program. She returns to her home in Scotland’s Orkney Islands to heal, reconnect with nature, and navigate complex relationships with her religious mother and her father, who has bipolar disorder. Adapted from Amy Liptrot’s bestselling memoir, The Outrun stars Saoirse Ronan (with bright blue hair) as Rona, in a “transcendent” performance already generating Oscar buzz. And even if the Academy doesn’t come calling, at the very least, we think Ronan deserves a trophy for delivering seven newborn sheep.

Conair Turbo Extreme Steam Hand Held Fabric Steamer

Conair Turbo Extreme Steam Hand Held Fabric Steamer

If you’re traveling for a special event — or tend to get Type A around wrinkled clothes — you don’t need to rely on a bootleg shower-steaming method to get your clothes crisp. This travel steamer is a rec from one of our commerce editors, who happens to both travel a lot and be Type A. She’s brought it on every recent destination wedding, work trip, and vacation, and swears that it works just as well as her at-home iron for straightening out even delicate, finicky fabrics, like silk. It’s not exactly lightweight, but it is compact, so you’ll be surprised by how easily it packs. Plus, the steam kills 99.9% of germs, mites, and bed bugs. A bonus if you’re also a bit of a germaphobe.
