“Possibly the greatest T-shirt known to man”

Plus: A deodorant that really works

The Recommendation

Today, we’re talking really good T-shirts, excellent and on-sale bras, and more cheap (but great!) things we love. Plus: an aluminum-free deodorant that really works.

An emergency T-shirt turned absolute wardrobe staple

Editor Alexander Aciman was on a trip visiting his grandparents when he realized he had made a critical mistake. He didn’t have a single T-shirt. That’s right, he forgot to pack an entire category of clothing.

In an act of desperation, he bought an emergency T-shirt from a local frozen-custard shop to get him through the trip. And he thought nothing much of it. After all, as Alexander puts it, “one does not look at a faded, pale red T-shirt purchased for roughly $15 from a strip mall in Wisconsin and think, ‘This is possibly the greatest T-shirt known to man.’”

But the moment he put it on, Alexander was struck by the lush, almost buttery cotton draped over his shoulders. This tee had a thick and soft fabric, relaxed fit, and sturdy construction. He tracked it down online. And immediately ordered a dozen.

Our ultimate guide to men’s white T-shirts

In our search for flattering, comfortable, and well-made T-shirts worthy of becoming wardrobe staples, we sifted through heaps of contenders. And we enlisted the help of testers with different body types and style preferences. Three favorites rose to the top of the pile: a polished and versatile $25 tee that feels pricier than it is, a high-end, splurge-worthy shirt, and an ultra-affordable one that comes in lots of sizes.

Plus: A few bras we love are on sale today

We’ve found deals on two of our favorite bras today—just for Wirecutter readers:

  • A flattering bralette for lounging: Constructed of smooth, pleasantly stretchy material, this comfy wire-free triangle bralette provides medium support. It fits like a second skin, with no pinching, digging, or rolling.
  • A great T-shirt bra: This inexpensive bra creates a smooth, defined silhouette. Our testers appreciated its sturdy construction, easy-to-adjust straps, and stylish criss-cross design.

One last thing (Alexander loves): “I’ve been stink-free for 10 years thanks to this deodorant”

For years, Alexander tried to tame his armpits in every way imaginable: prescription-grade antiperspirants, crystal sticks, antibacterial soaps, alcohol-based sprays—you name it. Only one thing has reliably worked: an aluminum-free deodorant that eliminates odor-causing bacteria and provides multi-day protection. Its claim to last 72 hours? It’s legit.
