The torrent of web3 gaming news has not slowed down. Several gaming mints, the official launch of Champions Tactics, a web3 strategy game from Ubisoft. the integration of lands into Mavia, Halloween events, AI development, and much, much more!

But before we get to it, just one pet peeve that has come up several times for me lately — multiple login options creating multiple, un-linkable accounts. It really sucks when you accidentally login to a site using a different login method, and it creates a brand new account for you, binding that login to the new account and not letting you connect to your original account which was what you were trying to do in the first place!

Now obviously, some of this is user error, but it also makes me appreciate the apps that funnel everything through a single login point so that you don’t end up with your wallet connected to a different account than the one you’re using to play the game.

Anyway, rant over. On to the web3 gaming headlines from this week!

Halloween is upon us. And whether or not you celebrate this festive occasion, you can still enjoy special, holiday-themed events throughout the web3 gaming space. Interfaces will change, sporting pumpkins, and ghosts, and colorful leaves. Sales for Halloween themed costumes and skins are already underway such as those from Pirate Nation, Eternal Paradox, Planet Mojo, and pretty much every game that lets you buy outfits! Other projects will host larger scale events like the Boss Fighters Halloween event, RavenQuest’s Harvest Eve, and the Domenation Halloween beta.

But whether you’re earning items through skillful play or simply buying them in the store, these Fall and Halloween are almost always available for only a limited time, making them somewhat exclusive.

So check your favorite games and keep an eye on our news feed for your chance to snag some of these snazzy character skins and house decorations!

AI in Web3 Gaming: Would You Like to Play a Game?

The AI super hype has faded a bit, but the stories still hit the news on a regular basis, including a recent experiment that saw AI-powered bots hype a new memecoin which ended up making them millionaires!

Though there still isn’t a whole lot to show for the promises of AI enhancers and helpers in blockchain gaming, that will start to change soon. The number of AI focused projects has grown significantly. We have AI Arena, where players train their characters to fight in side-scrolling combat, Cloudborn which promises AI-driven companions, Axie Pals, even modders connecting AI chatbots to NPCs in Skyrim and Stardew Valley!

And the promises of AI-assisted builders for game creation are prevalent as well. The number of platforms that plan on leveraging AI to help users build games and even entire worlds continues to swell. Just to name a few we have Tales, Seedworld, Alterverse, and Today, which will include AI-powered residents that help you build and develop your island.

And though it still remains to be seen how much AI will actually improve our gaming experience, we shall start to see the first attempts and iterations going live over the next year. Expect to see more mentions of AI in the news going forward. And in fact, I’m going to go ahead and pre-emptively declare 2025 the year of AI!
