I quit my job in medical devices back in 2014, 6 weeks after my first son was born, and lemme tell you, I was TERRIFIED.

1. Respect isn't guaranteed – even when you succeed. When I first quit my 9-5, I thought everyone would be impressed. Reality check: they weren't. People with a traditional mindset about what a "real job" is might never fully get it – no matter how successful you become. Your satisfaction has to come from within.
2. Freedom often means more work, not less. But when it’s work you love doing, it will feel pretty dang good. Now, I won’t lie - before, you probably knew exactly how much you were making every month. But as a creator, some months you make a lot, other months, not so much. It takes time to adjust to those ups and downs, both logistically and mentally. But once you do, the autonomy over your work and life makes it all worth it.
3. Once you taste being your own boss, it's addictive. Sure, it can be stressful, but not having to ask anyone's permission to take a day off, pick up your kids early, or go on a week-long vacation – it's hard to quantify how incredible that feels. Whether you're working on your passion project nights and weekends or have taken the full-time plunge, this freedom is a game-changer.
