Sometimes You Just Have To Ask For It...

So last week, I decided to do something. I decided to ask my website hosting company of choice it they would sponsor the Entrepreneur's Enigma Podcast and the Marketing Junto newsletter. You know what? They said yes.

Now granted I have great relationship with the owner of Rocket.net, Ben, but it's only because I've cultivated that relationship.

So really this comes down to two things? Don't be afraid to ask for something. You only get something if you ask, right? And relationships are important. They make asking for a sponsorship, or a guest appearance on a podcast, or getting someone notable on your podcast. If that person knows you and has even a small relationship with you getting to Yes is that much easier.

Another trick I have to finding sponsorships for your podcasts or newsletters, is to ask the companies who you patronize. In many cases, knowing the business and the service they provide will make getting that Yes so much easier.

This can work in sales too. A big part of account-based marketing (ABM) is the relationship. It's NEVER about the quick sale. It's about the long term relationship that will provide much more value to both sides than just a sale.
