Remember the Black Fridays of yore? The door-busting, curb-stomping sales that had folks lining up at 6 a.m. for TVs, toys, and inheritance-worthy cookware? I will always have a bit of nostalgia for the rush of Cabbage Patch Kids-era coupon-clipping (if only because it was my parents, not me, who were hitting the pavement). But, for the most part, it still feels pretty great to shower myself with deals now that I have control of the credit card.

These days, it also seems like the Black Friday deals kick off increasingly earlier; I’m not mad about it — after all, isn’t it handy to have a new All-Clad roasting pan before Thanksgiving? — but it does make the build up to Black Friday proper a bit dizzying. I already started sniffing out the early Black Friday deals on everything from trad wife-level Viking appliances to covetable presents for food-lovers (will someone please slip these bowtie pasta earrings into my stocking?), but there are plenty more deals to come, and I will continue to be your guide through the Divine Comedy that is 2024 Black Friday cookware and kitchen coverage.

KitchenAid 4.5-quart stand mixer

Out of all the early Black Friday deals that are already live, KitchenAid stand mixers are taking the cake (and the batter) when it comes to savings. There’s a dedicated Eater article to shopping the appliance during the Black Friday sale season, but this classic Empire Red version has my heart at $140 off.

Ooni pizza oven

I’m a fan of Ooni’s pizza ovens for so many reasons — mainly, how quickly they whip up tasty pizzas and flatbreads — but I especially love how easy they are to set up. These sleek workhorses come with an Allen key and a screwdriver so you can get cooking in earnest with wood, charcoal, or gas (and they kind of look like spaceships, too). Winter Sale (that’s indie fashion speak for “Black Friday”) is offering discounts of up to 50 percent off all kinds of goodies, including home and cookware items. I advise taking this opportunity to buy what I call a “lead singer platter,” which is a dish or tray that is so stylish, it deserves to be front and center at your next cocktail party. I have recently joined the cult of GIR — that’s Get It Right, for the uninitiated — because the cookware and utensil brand doesn’t use any creepy chemicals in its silicone tools (unlike most black plastic), and it blessed our IKEA utensil jars with the versatile spoonula (exactly what it sounds like). There are GIR sales popping up all over the Web, but I would stick to the sales on utensil bundles on Amazon and buckle down for the official GIR site’s 40 percent off Black Friday sale.

Ah, the Rocco wine fridge. The more I mull over this luxurious appliance, the more I find myself missing out on the ability to stock 27 bottles of wine and 88 cans in a Don Draper-worthy fridge. Are there plenty of wine fridge sales out there this Black Friday that don’t cost a month’s rent? Of course. But Rocco’s attention to detail — that rippled glass! The gold hardware! — and high-tech touches (yes, you can regulate/Big Brother your fridge via the app and the fridge’s internal camera) make it a cut above the rest. Bring one home for the holidays while they’re hundreds of dollars off.
