EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Sunday. Before we dive in, we want to recognize that it’s been a devastating week in Southern California. If you’ve been affected, here are some resources available to help. If you weren’t impacted, here are several ways to help those who were. And if you’re in need of a break, here are a few things on the internet that brought us joy — or at least distraction: Angelina Jolie’s trendy “mannequin mani” (equally notable: Zendaya’s exceptionally chic “strawberry milk” nails), how we all apparently want to smell like…sexy moss (not sure we agree with that), and the return of the butt tattoo (why??). However, nothing warmed our Y2K hearts quite like the wedding of this School of Rock couple — which ended with McDonald’s. Sounds pitch-perfect.

Deeply important information

😳 Millennials, brace yourselves: The Bumpit is about to be everywhere. Yes, you read that right.

☕ If you thought last year’s protein Diet Coke was…a lot, wait until you see the trendiest drinks of 2025 — including miso-spiked coffee and allegedly appealing banana cocktails

👟 Move over, golf widows. Marathon widows have sprinted into the chat

👀 PSA: The bush is back. Yes, that bush.

💅 Look, we love a good arts and crafts project, but “scrapbook nails” are a kitsch too far.

👜 Break out your white coat because “doctor bags” are having a moment. Stethoscopes not included.

I can't look away.
Nicole Kidman, Fernanda Torres, and Demi Moore

Grab your hormone replacement therapy and be seated because a vibe shift is underway. In Hollywood, where any female actor older than Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend was once considered past their “best by” date, women of a certain (not even that old) age dominated the 2025 Golden Globes. They won the red carpet (with hardly a stitch of makeup, in Pamela Anderson’s case), were nominated in whopping numbers (looking at you, Nicole Kidman, Karla Sofía Gascón, Liza Colón-Zayas), and took home several of the top trophies. The triumphant included Jean Smart, Jodie Foster, Fernanda Torres, and Demi Moore — whose win at age 62 marked her first major acting award…ever. At long last, Allure declared, the era of “Old Lady Energy” has arrived.

To be fair, this isn’t entirely new. In recent years, Jennifer Coolidge, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Michelle Yeoh have all won some of the industry’s highest honors for incredible roles they played in their 50s and 60s. And after decades of mostly getting cast as overlooked side characters, one-dimensional mothers, and villains (when Meryl Streep turned 40, she was asked to be three different witches in one year), middle-aged women are landing all sorts of complex, career-defining, and, yes, sexy roles (hello, Babygirl). Now, it’s probably no coincidence that this is happening as everyone’s talking about perimenopause and “menopause is all the rage.” But also, this generation of talented female actors is the first to amass enough money and power to change the industry. They’re launching wildly successful production companies (case in point: Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine reportedly sold for $900 million), picking up projects that resonate with women, and partnering with female writers and directors to bring them to life. And in doing so, they’re teaching the next generation of women in Hollywood to take charge of their careers — as evidenced by the slew of young actresses who’ve started production companies, like Sydney Sweeney, Storm Reid, Margot Robbie, and the Fanning sisters. Next stop? The Oscar nominations, which come out Jan 19. See you ladies there.

So, they are dating.
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster

Just when it seemed like everybody was reportedly breaking up (exhibit A: Jessica Alba and Cash Warren; exhibit B: Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler), Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are proving love isn’t dead. Earlier this week, the George and Amal Clooney of Broadway became photo-op official in a not-at-all-staged People exclusive — essentially, the celebrity equivalent of an IG hard launch. And in true thespian fashion, the apparent confirmation comes after lots of drama. For the non-theater kids out there, we’ll explain: In December 2021, the Wolverine and the Younger actress starred in an immensely popular run of The Music Man. During that time, the costars promoted the Broadway revival with gushy social media posts and interviews, leading to rumors of a very messy love affair — or, as a source later told the New York Post, “Broadway’s worst-kept secret.” In 2023, Jackman and his now ex-wife, Deborra-lee Furness, announced they were ending their 27-year marriage, and this fall, Foster followed suit, filing for divorce from her husband of 10 years — which, combined with curious tabloid reports and TikTok posts, intensified speculation. Then, just ahead of those hand-holding pics, Jackman reportedly attended one of Foster’s final Once Upon a Mattress performances. Hugh and Sutton, best of luck.

Can you like an engagement ring into existence? It seems to have worked for Zendaya — whose new rock is expected to drive demand for “east-west” engagement rings.

Need something to watch
The Traitors season 3 cast

We’re not in the business of encouraging people to be traitors, but under the right circumstances, it can pay to betray. Specifically, if you’re on The Traitors, the Emmy-winning reality series in which 21 TV personalities and notable figures travel to an actual Scottish Highlands castle and participate in a high-stakes murder-mystery game — in the hope of winning the up to $250,000 cash prize. Hosted by the delightfully campy Alan Cumming, the competition divides the participants into two groups: the “Faithful” and the “Traitors,” who battle each other in what plays out like a game of Mafia. (Get a full play-by-play here.) Season 3 just kicked off (the first three episodes are available to stream on Peacock), and the stacked cast includes Real Housewives icon Dorinda Medley, Bob the Drag Queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause, Zac Efron’s brother, Britney Spears’s ex-husband Sam Asghari, and Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval, who is unlikely to be on team “Faithful.” A castle full of drama-loving reality TV stars: what could go wrong?

What are the affordable boots we like again?
A New Day Lonnie Kitten Heel Stretch Ankle Boots

A New Day Lonnie Kitten Heel Stretch Ankle Boots

It has to be asked: Who gave Target’s shoe department permission to be so good? For those who haven’t had the pleasure of mindlessly wandering around the store recently, it’s been crushing the shoe game — just take a look at these chic mules and these buckled slingbacks, which seem quite similar to a certain designer pair that shall remain nameless. But most fixation-worthy? These $35 ankle boots. Not only do they have a sleek, sculptural, and very practical kitten heel, but they’re also made with a faux-leather material that actually looks and feels like the real thing, especially when paired with similarly expensive-looking yet secretly affordable pieces. Buy them now, wear them with your jeans-and-a-nice-top uniform forever.
