The conventional formula:

• Work for ~40 years.
• Retire at ~65.
• Then travel, explore, relax.

The unfortunate reality:

• Work for 40-50 years.
• Retire at ~68.
• Some travel, exploration and relaxation (whilst having lower energy and poorer health).

I wish society was built for humans to live incrementally, and not eventually.

Here are some working models which offer a better balance:

• 4-Day Work Week: Work four days, three-day weekends every week.
• Seasonal Work Model: Intense work periods followed by multi-month breaks.
• Sabbatical-Based Career: Extended breaks every few years (6-12 months off).
• Summer Fridays : a 4 day week during the summer months
• Annual Mini-Retirements: Taking 1-2 months off every year.
• Compressed Workdays: Slightly longer daily hours for frequent extra days off.
• Portfolio Career: Balancing part-time, freelance, and passion-driven work simultaneously.
