But don't despair if you're not there yet. As one group member said, "It's never too late to start! We blew money on boats, camp, vacations (all enjoyed) but did not get serious about retiring early until I read "Your Money or Your Life" By Vicki Robin. Went hard core frugal (I mean only meal eaten out in 4 years was Taco Bell and it was delicious!!) and started buying rental properties. We retired at 45."
