UI Freebies and my first daily fail after over 4 years

Namaste! I hope my email finds you well.

Another week, another newsletter. Last week I kept pushing towards complex layouts (except Friday, went for a low hanging subscribe form hehe). I also tried higher contrast designs and some quirky colors. I might be sticking to the high contrast stuff this week as well.

Also, I’ve had my first daily UI fail last week. After more than 4 years!

Last Thursday we met up with our study group from the language course to practice Norvegian (språkpraksis). It was day 1129. Before leaving I started the filter design for the day, but I had to rush to the bus station because I was going late. It was a simple enough plan. Go out, practice Norvegian, have a quick chat, come home. Well, needless to say, the language game we played was more fun to play while having a beer. One beer led to another, then the language practice turned into full-on Oktoberfest.
When we arrived home, I just grabbed something to eat and I completely forgot to finish and post my design... On to the next morning.

I’ve had these weird feelings popping up every now and then. Short anxiety bursts about forgetting my daily design, only to realize that it’s the weekend. Waking up, thinking I forgot to post my design but remembering that I posted it already. Well, this time was the same but it didn’t end with a comforting realization. I actually stumbled.

It was a cruel reality to wake up to.

But after a brief moment of feeling sorry for myself, to that, I say, onwards and upwards my dear reader. It is not our success that defines us but our ability to stumble and keep moving forward. So next time I’m at the språkpraksis I’ll raise a glass of fine Nordic beer to our long journey ahead paved with slips and stumbles!

Keep on rolling!
