Dr. Judi Bloom, of Santa Monica, Calif., says she walks at least four to five miles a day and does an hour of yoga at home. If she doesn't walk outside, she uses her gym-quality elliptical machine. She says she can't believe she'll turn 70 at the end of the month and no wonder--folks who exercise usually feel (and look) younger than their chronological age. 

Lina Au of the Bay Area says she took up drawing at the senior center right before the pandemic hit. "I always felt that I have no artistic cells in my body," she writes. But to her surprise and delight, she discovered a hidden talent as she started doing sketches of animals. "You never know what you can or cannot do until you try it!" she says. So true!

Ray, also of the Bay Area, wrote in to say, "We are 5 years into a 20-30+ year retirement (I hope).  We have been living under our $75K budget for the past 30 years in the San Francisco Bay Area and plan to continue living under it for the next 25+ years, without any inflation adjustment.  This is our example of 'I can because I do.'" Their achievement is all the more impressive because it includes a $10,000 allocation to charitable giving!

Gerry Even, 54, of Fargo N.D. wrote of recovering from a serious rotator cuff/arm injury: "Did therapy until I didn't see any more improvement, then let German/Dane stubbornness take over and just got back to living my life. Today there are many things I do with that arm that I was never expected to be able to do. Some take time, some look pretty awkward. Limited strength and stability in it, but I've adapted to compensate." That's an excellent example of, I can because I do!

And then there's the 70-year-old from Wisconsin who pre-pandemic played hockey twice a week (and was NOT the oldest member of his team)!
