Staying Invested Through the WTF

OK, you Elle Raisers. Go you.

I happen to be pretty superstitious, so let me start by noting that maybe this financial and stock market downturn is not over, and maybe we’re in for another leg (or six) of stomach-lurching roller coaster moments as investors. Maybe this is just a moment of calm.

But during that really tough part … during those WTF moments in the stock market in the spring, when the word “unprecedented” got thrown around a lot … the Ellevest community did great.

What we’ve been reading

•	Oprah is partnering up with Pulitzer winner Nikole Hannah-Jones and Lionsgate to turn Hanna-Jones’s 1619 Project into movies, TV shows, and other types of content. (So excited for this!)
•	Germany’s government approved a nine-part plan for gender equality that was “decades” in the making.
•	Whether we reopen schools in the fall will have a lasting impact on kids and parents. But we may not be listening hard enough to what teachers have to say about it, and the history of teaching in the US might tell us why.
•	Next Monday, July 20, workers across the US will strike for Black lives. Here’s what you should know.
