In the story, we mentioned the importance of staying on top of your credit card accounts to look for fraudulent charges. We should have mentioned that there's an easy way to do this — many cards allow you to set up automatic alerts to let you know if the card is being used a certain way. For example, you can set alerts to go off if the card is used without it physically being present, or if it incurs any charge over a dollar amount that you specify. One reader set that amount to one cent, meaning she gets an email whenever the card is used or automatically charged. Great tip!
