Wait But Why - 3 Things

1) In case you missed the last email, we’re making The Story of Us into a book. It’s really coming out nicely, in part because of so much useful reader feedback on the parts already posted. We’re really excited about it. The online series has so many concepts and metaphors and ideas in the series—for the book, I’ve distilled it all down to the most important ideas. Kind of like doing a WBW post about a WBW post. I’ll be back with an exact release date soon. For now, here's a sneak preview of one of the book’s visuals:
2) Been refraining from doing other posts until this book is off my plate, but I’ve been doing mini-mini-posts on Twitter regularly. Follow @waitbutwhy if you’re not already!

3) My wife Tandice is starting a primary care members club called The Lanby. She’s kind of into complaining in general, but the thing she probably has complained most about since I’ve known her is the awfulness of going to the doctor. So with her business partner Chloe, she’s spent the last year working feverishly to create a new kind of primary care. These are the goals:

- Marry hospitality and healthcare, so patients are treated the way they are at a nice restaurant or hotel. They’ve been calling it a doctor’s office “where everybody knows your name.” They don’t take insurance because that leaves doctors incentivized to do quantity, not quality, which is the opposite of hospitality. You’ll never feel like you’re being rushed out of a doctor’s appointment at The Lanby.

- Bring healthcare into the 2020s. Open the app to book an appointment, see your whole health history, see upcoming appointments, order prescription refills, etc.

- Be your mom. A lot of people really need a mom booking their appointments and making sure they’re getting all the checkups they need, etc. Except they’re grown-ups so no one has been doing this for them. The Lanby members will have a dedicated care team of three people assigned to them, including a “Concierge Manager” who’s obsessed with their health. If you’re at the age where you should be getting checkup X, especially given your family health history Y, The Lanby is on top of it and is going to make sure you get that checkup. The doctor is also only half of the service—the other half is wellness. They’ll make sure you’re eating and exercising and sleeping and meditating the way you should be.

The space itself will be a lot of fun. Fancy coffee, member lounge, wellness shop, etc.

The physical location will be in NYC, but you can join if you live anywhere in the U.S. You just need to do at least one in-person visit a year in NY.

If you’re intrigued about any of this, join their newsletter here. They’re starting super small (100 members) to make sure they can do an A+ job right away. If you’re on the newsletter, you’ll also be put on the waiting list for membership spots (obviously no obligation to join). More info here and here’s their Instagram (it’s delightful go look).
