Madeline O'Malley: Perhaps it’s in line with desires to bring the outdoors inside, but I feel like green kitchens are really hot right now. Kendall Jenner’s teal iteration in AD’s September issue received great response. Mel Studach: And I’m still daydreaming about the avocado green kitchen Pierce & Ward designed for Dakota Johnson’s home featured in April.
Maddie: When I saw the Aimee Wilder’s Baby Fern Swan tile, vibrantly green and wave-like in its graphic repeat, I couldn’t help but picture it in an of-the-moment kitchen. There are several pattern options available, depending how designers choose to install the repeats, and each evokes such cheerful energy. Mel: While we’re talking kitchen, I notice you have some stunning table linens in your picks for this week as well. Please dish.
Maddie: Aren’t they incredible? Texas-born, Sydney-based designer Lily Lanahan recently launched table linens company Elizabeth Lake, which works with artisans in Madeira on the hand appliqué and embroideries. If the motifs on the beautiful new Matisse dinner napkins and placemats feel familiar, it’s because they draw inspiration from the artist’s 1953 large-scale cutout Large Decoration with Masks.
