I’m not sure what your Labor Day weekend plans are, but I’m looking forward to putting my new favorite pair of shoes to good use: On’s Cloudrock Waterproof hiking boots. Your bath towel can really make or break your bathing experience. I know this may sound a bit dramatic, but it’s true — there’s nothing better than a good quality towel that’s soft, absorbent and the right size, and there’s nothing worse than one that’s too small or too thin. Luckily, there are enough great options on the market today to find the very best bath towels for you.

So where do you start? Of course price is a big consideration. When it comes to bath towels, you can really spend as much or as little as you want. There are luxe, oversized bath towels that can cost as much as $50 each, but there are also great quality options for as little as $10. The material or fiber used is another important consideration. In general, cotton is the gold standard for towels because it’s durable, soft and absorbent (Egyptian long-staple cotton being the best of the best). Microfiber, made from nylon and polyester, is another quick-drying option, but it’s not usually as soft or absorbent as cotton.

You’ll also want to consider towel size. The average bath towel is 30 by 56 inches — anything smaller probably won’t be big enough to accommodate most bodies comfortably. But if you like bigger bath towels that really wrap you up, consider investing in a few bath sheets as well, which usually come in closer to 35 by 65 inches (or more).
