As power women remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg and reflect on her legacy, this past week three women CxOs took center stage in features noting their appointments, leadership and innovation: Forbes Assistant Editor Samantha Todd reports that Berkshire Hathaway’s BNSF Railway has appointed Kathryn M. Farmer as president and CEO, effective January 1, 2021. In taking the top job, she will become the first woman to helm a major railway operator in North America. She is currently one of the highest-ranking women at Berkshire, the multinational conglomerate of billionaire Warren Buffett.

Meanwhile, in a profile of new Discord CMO Tesa Aragones, CMO Network Editor Marty Swant explains how the former marketing exec at Nike and VSCO is now leading marketing for the San Francisco-based platform that allows people have private conversations using video and chat features. Known for being used by gamers since its founding in 2015, Discord’s categorization is quickly changing—especially during the current era of social distancing.

And Forbes Small Business Editor Maneet Ahuja shares her exclusive interview with Google CFO Ruth Porat, who reveals how she’s leaning on her extensive experience of navigating economic downturns, government investigations and regulatory hurdles to negotiate the new obstacles posed by the global pandemic—rebuilding the U.S. economy one small business at a time.
