Forbes - No, The Pandemic Hasn’t Ended

Yesterday evening, the White House stirred controversy when it announced in a press release that one of President Trump’s biggest accomplishments of his first term in office was ending the Covid-19 pandemic. This was a surprising declaration to many, considering that Covid-19 case counts and hospitalizations around the country are sharply rising this week. Just last Friday, the U.S. recorded its highest-ever number of new cases in a single day at more than 83,000. After backlash from the announcement, the White House said today that the President’s accomplishment was “poorly worded.” The President himself however continues to claim that the pandemic will be over soon, even as his top advisors warn that life as we used to know it may not return until 2022.
