This week’s recs.
Podcast Episode
The podcast is called, Heavyweight. The episode that I want you to hear is #32 Vivian. This show is produced by Gimlet, they make beautifully produced podcasts and just recently sold to Spotify for lots. Without spoiling the show, the storytelling is incredible, the production is lovely, and gives you the sensation of reading a favorite short story. It’s a 38 minute show that made me laugh and shed a few tears.
Podcast Episode
The show is called Noah Kagan Presents. The episode I want you to hear is called “How to Love Yourself w/ NYT Bestselling Therapist Lori Gottlieb”. I read Lori’s most recent book which is a fast, enjoyable read that left an impact on me. I don’t think you need much of a teaser for the episode, the title pretty much covers it.
Podcast Episode
The show is called Masters in Business. The episode that I want you to hear is with Rich Barton. Rich is a little bit lesser known entrepreneur but he’s the founder of Expedia, Glassdoor, and Zillow. The story of how they started Expedia while he was working at Microsoft is pretty amazing.
Lesson 4 of my “37 hard earned lessons” series.
I learned this lesson from Jamie Rice. Jamie is the hockey coach at Babson. I think most people have one person that gets the forever “Coach” title and he is mine. I’ve never called him anything but Coach. Feels weird even typing Jamie. Even now as a 37 year old man. When it becomes safe to return to restaurants in groups, the lesson is NEVER GET OUT-ORDERED. If the person right before you orders Filet, you come right over the top and get the aged ribeye plus lump crabmeat or a lobster tail. You don’t ever want the sinking feeling when the plates arrive that yours is not the best looking. Don’t get out-ordered.
