Some recs:
Couple documentaries, audio style. I listen to little chunks of these while driving, folding laundry, doing dishes, cooking, etc. I might enjoy these more than watching similar material? I’m curious if that has to do with how I absorb info.
West Cork, seems to be exclusively on Audible. This is about an unsolved murder in West Cork, Ireland. Come for the unsolved murder story, stick around for the sweet accents.
Spotify/Apple:
The OG. Serial, Season 2. Story is about Bowe Bergdahl, a US Soldier who walked off a base in Afghanistan and spent five years in captivity. I remember this being really polarizing. Not finished with this yet and I know it is old. The story telling and production are top notch. Serial was one of the first pods to nail this audio documentary style material.
Podcast Episode:
Ron Funches on the Joe Rogan Experience. Listening to Ron motivated me to do stuff. Record podcasts, write, exercise, etc. Listening to someone who has worked hard on self confidence, self belief, and who has made major life changes (lost 130 lbs) really landed for me. Ron has willed himself to success and I enjoyed everything about this chat. Ron has a 17 year old autistic son and listening to him talk about his son is comforting.
Food
Ice cream between two fresh made cookies. This is at the early stages of becoming a problem for me. The key is to find the right mom and pop ice cream shop that makes their own cookies. The cookies are key. You should experiment with different ice cream flavors. When I sneak over to Foley’s in Braintree, my inner monologue tells me that the feeling would be no different if I was going to score some H down on the corner. I park out front, leave the car running, and I am in and out in 45 seconds. The anonymity of wearing a mask feels extra sneaky too.
You need to let it soften a bit. Put the whole thing in a good sized bowl and eat it with a spoon. Sometimes life is about more than working and paying your taxes.
Love you all. Thanks for reading. Hope you are well.
