How To Help Employees Through Election Burnout | Inside The Black Women’s Health Imperative | And More

If you’ve been able to pay attention to anything other than the election this week, I commend you. With the exception of some time spent baking a focaccia and methodically stirring pomodoro sauce, I’ve been decently tunnel-visioned—and, contrary to the advice deeper in this newsletter, entirely online and plugged in.

At the point at which I’m writing this, we still don’t have an official result in the race for the White House. Votes are still being counted, and responsible public officials are urging patience. The
Forbes breaking news team is following all the developments here.

What we do know is that in down-ballot races around the country,
women have achieved a number of history-making victories: Republican Yvette Herrell, Democrat Teresa Leger Fernandez and Democratic U.S. Rep. Debra Haaland all won in New Mexico, making it the first state to elect all women of color to Congress. Democrat Cori Bush’s win makes her Missouri’s first Black congresswoman. And Democrat Sarah McBride won her race in Delaware, becoming the first transgender woman state senator and the nation’s highest-ranking openly transgender official.

Cheers to the firsts!

P.S.: I’m very pleased to report that the 2020 Forbes Power Women’s Summit is happening on December 9 at 11:00am ET, featuring speakers like Melinda Gates, Mellody Hobson, Tracee Ellis Ross and more. Register here and join us next month!

She, alongside Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi, created #BlackLivesMatter to expose ongoing anti-Black racism. “I hope it gets bigger than we can ever imagine,” she thought at the time. Her hopes have become reality.
