20 Freshest Web Designs, November 2020

There’s a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, but you’d never know it from the colorful, positive, and in some cases daring sites being launched. Every month we publish this roundup of the freshest web designs released in the previous four weeks, and in November’s edition you’ll find nothing but good vibes.

ClipDrop

ClipDrop is an extraordinary app that allows you to copy and paste from the real world, into your design work. Simply point your device at a person, object, or even text, the app uses AI to cut out the background, then you can paste straight into any app, from Photoshop to Figma. There’s a free trial available.

“Yes or No?” One Checkbox vs Two Radio Buttons

Checkboxes allow users to select one or more options, radio buttons only allow a single option to be chosen. So which is the right input for a yes/no question? Sara Soueidan takes a deep-dive into the UX of form inputs in an attempt to find the answer, with help from the community, in this thought-provoking post.

Tailwind CSS v2.0

In 18 short months Tailwind has gone from launch, to one of the most commonly used CSS frameworks on the web. Tailwind CSS v2.0 has just been released and in this detailed changelog Adam Wathan covers everything you need to know to get up to speed with the latest version of the framework.

Yes Sur: Behind The Scenes of Sketch’s macOS Makeover

With the arrival of the M1 chip and Big Sur, comes a raft of apps being rebuilt to run on the updated OS. The Sketch team gives us the inside story on its redesign, explaining the process it took to evolve one the most popular design apps on the market, from UI tweaks to close integration with the latest macOS.

Approved

Getting fast sign offs from stakeholders has always been a challenge, now more than ever with so many professionals WFH. Approved is an awesome plugin for Slack that lets you request a sign off from clients or team mates, then handles everything from queries to reminders. It’s free until the end of the year.

Boop!

Hover animations on links are a great way to make an interface feel responsive, but sometimes you want to acknowledge the interaction without changing the state. Cue this easy-to-follow React tutorial from Josh W. Comeau that introduces his Boop! concept, a way to pop a hover state on for just a moment.

Workspaces

Workspaces is an incredibly useful app for multi-tasking designers and developers. The app launches everything you need for a single project, opening folders and launching files, with a single click. Keep notes on the project, manage dependencies, and never lose that logo file again. Workspaces is currently $11.99.

Flash Forever?

Adobe Flash ceased to be a viable technology years ago, and its official end of life is the close of 2020, with no further Flash Player support in browsers. But in a last minute reprieve, the Internet Archive has announced that it will using an emulator to maintain a historical record of Flash sites, animations, and games.
