So, how does the first Fire Emblem hold up?
Eternal Slump. Web version | Unsubscribe ![]() Hi, Chris here with issue #210 of Switch Weekly, your update on all things Nintendo. If you missed last week's issue you can catch up here, this story on Nintendo and piracy proved particularly popular, as did this on Age of Calamity shying away from the darkness of Breath of the Wild. This week I seem to have a ton of reviews to share with you, so if you're looking for something new to pick up then be sure to dig through the reviews linked up below. Just under 20 games are out next week, including heavy hitter Doom Eternal, more Puyo Puyo Tetris, and Switch exclusive PixelJunk Eden 2. Finally, are you on Twitter? If so, I'd love if you could retweet this (or quote tweet it with your thoughts). 🎮 Currently Playing — Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past REVIEW Immortals: Fenyx Rising — The author notes that this Ubisoft adventure is "overall a great game [..] but the Switch version is such a disappointment" that they are strongly considering starting over on another platform. I've seen lots of conflicting takes on this one, however the game seems decent enough overall (yes it cribs from BotW) — I liked this tweet which said, in a good way, that it's like 'God of War in crayon'. Matthew Zawodniak // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light — It seems the passing 30 years haven't been too kind to this one, as it's fair to say this review concludes that the first game in this series hasn't aged well. Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report Remembering the Shadow Dragon - A history of Fire Emblem's original adventure Henry Stockdale // Nintendo Life Donald Theriault // Nintendo World Report 🤔 Question of the week: I originally asked this over on Twitter, but I'd love to know your thoughts too. I want to know what do you think is one of the 💎 hidden gems of the Switch library from 2020. What's the one game everyone slept on that you think is great, or didn't get enough love? If you've got something in mind just hit reply to this email and let me know — I'm hoping to put together a list of responses and share it later this month. REVIEW Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise — Described here as a fun way to get in some cardio exercise each day, and it's cheaper than Ring Fit. Rebecca Spear // iMore DOOM Eternal: We speak to port wizards Panic Button — A good interview with the folks behind bringing Doom Eternal to the Switch. Nice to see that iD Software "looked at Switch as kind of a first-class citizen" during development. Gavin Lane // Nintendo Life Switch updated to Version 11.0.0, includes new screenshot/video sharing features, icons, and more GoNintendo Nintendo cancels Splatoon 2 NA Open livestream, "Free Melee" believed to have played a part Liam Doolan // Nintendo Life 'Empire of Sin' is much more than just 'X-COM' with Tommy Guns — This review from Jordan Oloman at NME said it was 'slick' and 'addicting' but overall a bit sloppy in its execution. Gita Jackson // Vice REVIEW Phogs — This cutesy puzzle platformer is "a doggone delight to play". Ash Mercia // Switch Player REVIEW Sam & Max Save the World Chris Scullion // Nintendo Life REVIEW John Wick Hex Christian Vaz // Pocket Tactics REVIEW Absolute Drift Greg Hicks // Finger Guns REVIEW Liberated: Enhanced Edition James Bowers // Switch Player After 7 years in development hell, no fairytale ending for 'Ray's the Dead'— This game is out on the PS4 now, and a Switch version is expected next year. This article tells the development story of this Pikmin-esque zombie experience. Patrick Klepek // Vice
