1 Easy Mindset Change Conquered My Stress
I used to feel so overwhelmed about all I had to do each day.
It was draining me of my life, and I don’t feel I’m exaggerating when I say that.
But one day I realized I had been all wrong about how to get things done.
Suddenly, I went from feeling anxious about all the things I have to do…to feeling much more in control of my time and my life.
What started all of this?
A simple mindset change.
Today, you’re going to learn about that mindset change.
But you’re also going to learn what to do after that mindset change to get more done while also saving your time and your sanity.

Tasks Mindset
Let’s talk about tasks mindset.
Tasks mindset is when you think about all the things you do. And then you think about how on Earth you’re going to get all of that done.
To-do lists can help, but they don’t solve the problem.
One task turns into five, which soon turns into twenty.
Piles and piles of tasks are everywhere, just waiting to be done.
And what does that lead to?
If you’re like me, it doesn’t lead to good feelings. It leads to massive overwhelm and frustration.
When I have piles of tasks to sort through, my mental health suffers big time. It’s an absolutely awful, crushing feeling.
So what’s the answer?
It’s adopting a schedule mindset.
Life is about finding order in the chaos.
Life is about finding order in the chaos.
Schedule Mindset
If tasks mindset is wading through piles of tasks, schedule mindset is sorting through those tasks and putting them in neat and tidy piles right next to each other.
Schedule mindset is time-blocking.
It’s taking time to plan out your calendar. It’s having a weekly time slot for paying bills and filing papers. It’s having bi or tri-weekly time slots for things like “calls,” and “writing” and even “self-care.
Schedule mindset is a way out of the darkness.
Because in order to define the categories of your life, you need to work through what’s important to you in the first place.
But believe me, this is well worth the time it takes.
Documenting where your time is going and coming up with a simple plan to schedule your time is not a waste of time. It’s a way to get your time back.
Discipline = Freedom
I thought this was a corny saying that uptight people say, but now I understand it. I fully embrace it.
I guarantee you will start to see benefits even with the smallest actions taken while you’re in a schedule mindset.
What do you have to lose by trying it even for a day?
Was this short issue helpful? Inspirational? Stupid? Let me know! I love hearing from you.

Jordan

P.S. I really did struggle with this feeling of massive overwhelm for YEARS. I get it. Here’s one book, The One Thing, that really helped me get out of task mindset.

The Mental Health Update is an inspirational mental health newsletter featuring authentic mental health articles that make mental health issues like depression, anxiety, OCD meaningful AND accessible.

This is different from typical mental health newsletters.

It's not just an Anxiety Email Newsletter or a Depression Email Newsletter - It's timeless mental health wisdom and inspiration to start your day in a thoughtful, uplifting way.

I was tired of other mental health newsletters blasting out generic lists of links. And I was especially tired of other mental health newsletters not focusing on the everyday reality of mental health issues.

So I decided to come up with a mental health newsletter I wanted to read.

This health newsletter is like a caring friend that just wants you to feel better.

Mental health awareness articles don't need to be all doom and gloom and filled with jargon.

With The Mental Health Update email newsletter, you'll get practical mental health information, tips, and new ways to view the world.

We discuss topics like anxiety, depression, OCD, the mental health to mental illness spectrum, social and communication skills, and much, much more.

This is what a few subscribers had to say about The Mental Health Update:

"If you haven't yet subscribed to Jordan's mental health newsletter, you absolutely should. It's chock full of good stuff to read and will help make your day better. Not unlike a daily vitamin for your mental health and soul..." - JR

"Encouragement from someone who has “been there” when it comes to mental health struggles. Comes in the form of stories and simple, actionable tips for reframing and working with - and through - your issues. One of the few newsletters that has survived my ruthless inbox decluttering sprees. Highly recommended!" - Kelila

"Jordan's mental health update is a welcomed email in my inbox. It often provides me with a chance to break from the mundane tasks of working in an office and take a moment for myself to hear his thoughtful and well put together thoughts on many aspects of mental health. As someone who works in the psychology field it's often a nice reminder and way of grounding myself to all the great work that's going on and the journey we all must take in supporting mental health. Thank you Jordan!" - Rob

I take my no-spam policy very seriously. I consider it a mental health obligation to not abuse your trust.
