Forbes - Lawmakers Clash Over Masks

Tensions are high between Democratic and Republican lawmakers after last week’s riot at the Capitol. One of the central disagreements: masks. Democratic lawmakers have said that some of their Republican colleagues refused to wear masks while sheltering together from the rioters -- and now at least three Democratic lawmakers have tested positive for Covid-19. The disagreement is so severe that today House Democrats introduced a bill that would impose a $1,000 fine on lawmakers who don’t wear masks on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol for the duration of the pandemic. Whether a bill like that will pass, however, remains to be seen. Meanwhile the CDC said today that it will implement a new directive requiring all travelers from outside of the U.S. to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test before being allowed to enter the country.
