Morning Brew - Overlooked vs. Overhyped

Morning Brew SPECIAL EDITION
Overlooked Overhyped

Good afternoon. Phoebe here, sliding into your inbox ever so casually with a special non-newsletter edition. Welcome to a little something Halie from Retail Brew and I like to call Overlooked/Overhyped.

What’s an O/O? Great question. Those “Top 10 Marketing Industry Trends of 20XX Year” articles have become as common as the words “digital marketing specialists” on agency landing pages. So instead, to kick off 2021, we’re giving you something a little different—and a little more data driven.

We surveyed 397 marketers in our readership about the biggest trends of 2020. Specifically, we asked them which they thought were overhyped, and which ones they felt were overlooked. Then we organized, analyzed, and beautified the data just for you.

So, which trends made the list? An even better question. A few of the most interesting trends include...

  • Micro-influencers gaining prominence
  • Death of the third-party cookie
  • TikTok—just all of it

So were they overlooked or overhyped? You’ll have to read the report here to find out.
