AD PRO - Finding Beauty in the Broken
From the Source goes live every other Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. ET from the AD PRO Instagram account to share the new products that are catching the attention of AD market editor Madeline O’Malley and AD PRO associate editor Mel Studach. Our next live session will be January 27. Watch last week’s episode featuring all 10 picks, view the resource guide, and find an edited recap of our conversation below. Madeline O'Malley: It really is so fun. No surprise coming from a product designer who honed her skills working on Kelly Wearstler’s team!
Mel: The collection standout for me is the Watts table lamp, with its brightly hued stained glass shade and trellis-inspired base.
Maddie: So fun! I am also loving the new faux-bamboo wireless table lamps from Casa Branca. The best of man and machine: Each is hand-painted by artist Margot Larkin and is portable thanks to its rechargeable battery.
Mel: Chic indeed! In the realm of super smart solutions, upcycled fashion label Rentrayage recently launched a home category of exclusive collaborations that maintain the brand’s sustainability ethos. The crown jewels of the curation would have to be the assortment of restored Nicola Fasano ceramics. Each plate is remade from either broken shards or discarded pieces and then hand-painted and glazed. I’d love to see this intent for finding beauty in the broken here to stay. Maddie: Finding beauty in the broken. I love that. My next pick comes from the collaboration between Knoll and designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.… Continue to the full episode here.
