RWD Weekly #445 — the one about GitHubs homepage

Read online

Hello again, welcome back to RWD Weekly #445.

Our feature site this week was suggested by Raquel Freitas because she knows how much I love a good performing site. This site takes a look at what their current server impact is on the environment and then uses that to determine how their site is loaded. If the carbon intesity goes too high, the site shuts down, if it's super low you get full resolution photos. Sometimes there's only illustrations, others they use low quality photos.

For me this really takes the fluidity of the web in a completely different direction, and one that we should be thinking more about.

Things You Can Do With CSS Today

For those of you getting started with web design or turning designs into HTML and CSS  I think this article gives you two layers of knowledge.
