2021 Poets Laureate Fellowships 

Submissions are still being accepted for the 2021 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowships. The $50,000 fellowships will honor Poets Laureate of states, cities, counties, U.S. territories, or Tribal nations, enabling them to undertake impactful and innovative projects that will engage their fellow residents and address important issues with poetry. The fellowship program, made possible by a generous gift from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is now in its third year. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EST, 8:59 p.m. PST. 

Every National Poetry Month we present Dear Poet, a multimedia education project that invites young people in grades five through twelve to write letters in response to poems written and read by award-winning poets. Watch Kwame Dawes, Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, read “New Year's Eve in Addis.”

Join us for the induction of Audre Lorde to the American Poets Corner at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Thursday, February 18 at 6 p.m. EST/ 3 p.m. PST. Readers and participants will include members of Lorde’s family and fellow poets Dante MicheauxRachel Eliza GriffithsMartha Collins, Cathedral Poet in Residence Marie Howe, U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, plus others to be announced. Free with registration.

Don’t miss Curated Conversation(s): a Latinx Poetry Show, a new program created by Letras Latinas, the literary initiative at the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Latino Studies, in partnership with The Writer’s Center and Duende District Bookstore. The first segment will be on February 23rd at 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST, and will feature National Book Award finalist Anthony Cody.

  • The Academy of American Poets is seeking a part-time Advertising & Marketing Assistant to support the Advertising & Marketing Department, which—among other things—ensures that literary magazines, presses, conferences, and organizations can promote their books and programs to poets and poetry readers. 
     
  • Lambda Literary is seeking an Awards Manager who will be responsible for a year-round cycle of activities beginning with award submissions, selection of judges, announcement of finalists, and celebration of winners at the annual awards ceremony. 
     
  • The Nation is currently accepting applications for its full-time editorial internship program
     
  • New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs is seeking a full-time Professor of English to teach a combination of Transitional and college English courses each fall and spring semester.
