While vaccines to halt the spread of the coronavirus were developed in record time, one aspect of the health care system has not kept up with the times: the sharing of important health information from clinic to clinic, or even from doctor to doctor within a hospital. Elizabeth A. Regan, professor of health informatics at the University of South Carolina, explains why this is a danger – and what can be done about it
