Why cohort-based courses are the best way to learn anything [Scale Your Impact #37]
Hi Reader, Why did the Stormtrooper feel lonely? .... Because he missed everyone. Ok, now that we've got the 1st April joke out of the way... Let me tell you about how things have been on my end. One word: WILD! Write of Passage ended this week. It's such a magical moment looking at the Zoom grid and hearing how many lives have changed over the past 5 weeks. That's exactly what an online course is supposed to do. And I'm so happy I could make a difference as an alumni mentor. The next cohort of Ship30for30 started, and shipping is still going well! You can find my daily atomic essays here. This time around I'm supporting a small crew as an alumni captain. We're opening the doors to the second cohort of Minimum Viable Video on Monday (eeehhhh!) Cam lead a fantastic Film Your First Video Workshop today, and we had to kick people out of the room after 90 min because no one wanted to leave. The On Deck Course Creator Fellowship lead by Andrew Barry is kicking off next week, and I'm the lead peer supporter. Together with 6 other crazy talented and experienced course creators, I'm going to help over 120 students launch and run their online courses. The next 2 months are going to be insane! I'm so excited and wouldn't have it any other way. Now here's what I want to share with you this week. ---

Why cohort-based courses are the best way to learn anything
Here are 7 reasons why CBCs rule and why I think the world needs more of them. Spread the word! Everyone needs to know.
The thing is, cohort-based learning is actually old news. Every university program is basically a CBC. My fellow Write of Passage student and Wharton Professor, Gad Allon, discusses in his article what makes the new version of CBCs stand out:
Cohort Based Courses: Something old, Something new by Gad Allon
"In my experience, Cohort Based Courses are the ultimate nudging experiment. You don’t want to miss a single thing, and through this constant Fear Of Missing Out, you keep engaging with the content, and the community. Pushing yourself and others. To learn."

I feel like I've got #1 & #3 down but struggling with #2. What about you?
I ask myself this question way more than I'd like to admit. And chasing after "enough" is slowly draining my energy. So I set out to find some answers.

PS: Because you've made it all the way to the end, I'm rewarding you with one more joke:
Why did the invisible man turn down the job offer?
...
He couldn't see himself doing it!
😂🤣
That's it! Now, you have to wait for another year before I tell a joke again.
